In this article I will give you some tips on how to make sure that your bike is ready for the next ride. These are some of the things that I do when I’m about to hit the road.
- Inspect the tires
The first thing that you should check is the tire pressure. This is very important because if it is too low then you can have a blow out. Also check the tread and wear and tear of the tires. If they are worn or damaged then you should replace them immediately.
- Check the chain
Make sure that the chain is tight and not worn down. You should also check the links of the chain. The link that has the smallest gap should be replaced. Also check the condition of the derailleur.
- Check the brake pads
If you have disc brakes then make sure that the pads are in good condition. If you don’t know what the condition is then you should check it.
- Make sure that the handlebars are adjusted properly
If the handlebars are not adjusted correctly then you can have problems with your steering. Also make sure that the brake levers are in good condition.
- Check the shifters
Make sure that the shifters are adjusted correctly. Also check the cables and the chain. Make sure that the cable isn’t wrapped around the chain.
- Check the brake lever
Make sure that the brake lever is not bent. Also make sure that the cable is not wrapped around the brake lever.
- Check the front wheel
Make sure that the tire is inflated properly. Also make sure that the rim tape is not worn.
- Check the rear wheel
Make sure that you check the tire and the rim tape. Also make sure that the tire is inflated correctly.
- Check the seat post
Make sure that the seat post is not bent. Also make certain that the saddle is not worn.
- Check the pedals
Make sure that the pedals are not bent. Also make certain the cleats are not worn.
